James and the Perth Heat

A massive congratulations to the Perth Heat who claimed bronze at the Australian Women’s Championships in Geelong. The team showed outstanding grit and determination to perform at the highest level throughout the tournament.

Our physiotherapist, James, definitely had his work cut out for him to help the players (and coaches) make it through the gruelling challenge of tournament baseball.

Common injuries and complaints included shoulder tightness — primarily through the pectorals, lats and rotator cuff muscles; thoracic and lumbar facet joint dysfunction; tightness through the medial elbow — particularly in those players responsible for pitching; adductor and quadriceps tightness.

After ten days of back-to-back baseball, sometimes 2-games in a day, we weren’t far off just putting the girls back together with duct-tape.

Thank you to the Perth Heat, and a special congratulations to the eight West Australians that have been named in the Emeralds 38-woman squad to face Japan at Strathfieldsaye Recreational Reserve between 8-11 June.
