Helping Perth move better since 2017
Expert chiropractic care to help you move with confidence.
Whether you’re dealing with pain, recovering from an injury, or simply unsure where to start, our chiropractors take the time to understand what’s going on, explain your options, and help you decide on the most appropriate next step.Should you see a chiropractor?
When you’re in pain, knowing where to start isn’t always straightforward.
If you’re experiencing back pain, neck pain, headaches, joint pain or a sporting injury, chiropractic care may be an appropriate place to start. The first step is understanding what’s causing your symptoms and whether conservative care is likely to help.
If chiropractic isn’t the most appropriate option for you, we’ll explain why and help point you towards the practitioner or service that is.
You may benefit from chiropractic care if you…
✓ Have back or neck pain
✓ Have headaches that may be related to the neck
✓ Have joint or muscle pain affecting everyday movement
✓ Have a sporting injury and want to return to activity
Another approach may be more appropriate if…
Some conditions are better managed by another healthcare professional or may require additional investigation.
Depending on your symptoms, we may recommend:
✓ Physiotherapy for structured rehabilitation or post-operative recovery
✓ Your GP if further medical assessment is appropriate
✓ Imaging when clinically indicated
✓ Referral to a specialist where required
Our priority is helping you get to the right place, even if that isn’t chiropractic.
What does the research say?
Current clinical guidelines commonly recommend conservative care as an appropriate first-line approach for many musculoskeletal conditions, including many forms of back and neck pain.
An assessment helps determine which management approach is most appropriate for your situation.

What to expect at your first appointment
Your first appointment is about understanding what’s going on, not rushing into treatment.
Every person is different, so we’ll take the time to listen, assess your symptoms and understand your goals before discussing the most appropriate management options.
YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT MAY INCLUDE:
Listening to your story
We’ll discuss your symptoms, your general health, what you’ve already tried and what you’re hoping to achieve.
A thorough assessment
Depending on your presentation, this may include movement testing, neurological or orthopaedic examination and other clinical assessments to better understand your condition.
A clear explanation
We’ll explain our findings in plain English, discuss what may be contributing to your symptoms and answer any questions you have.
Treatment where appropriate
If chiropractic care is appropriate, treatment may begin on your first visit. If another approach is likely to be more suitable, we’ll explain why and discuss your options.
A personalised management plan
Before you leave, you’ll have a clear understanding of what we think is happening, what we’re aiming to achieve and the recommended next steps.
No referral is required to see a chiropractor. If you have private health insurance with extras cover, your appointment may be eligible for an on-the-spot rebate depending on your level of cover.
HOW WE APPROACH CHIROPRACTIC CARE
Good care starts with understanding the problem.
Every person is different. Your symptoms, goals, lifestyle and medical history all influence what the most appropriate approach looks like.
That’s why we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all treatment plans or the same approach for every patient.
Instead, we focus on careful assessment, clear communication and evidence-informed care to help you make informed decisions about your health.
If chiropractic care is appropriate, we’ll explain why.
If another approach is likely to be more suitable, we’ll explain that too.
OUR GOAL IS SIMPLE
To help you understand what's happening, what your options are and what the next step should be.
We listen
Understanding your story is just as important as understanding your symptoms
We personalise
No two people move the same, so no two management plans should be identical.
We assess
Every recommendation begins with a thorough assessment, not assumptions
We collaborate
When another healthcare professional is better placed to help, we'll guide you in that direction. If needed, we work closely with our in-house physiotherapists, podiatrists and Pilates team to coordinate your care.
We explain
You'll leave understanding what we think is happening and why
We review
Your care shouldn't stay the same if your condition changes. We regularly reassess your progress and adjust your management plan where appropriate.
WHAT DOES THE RESEARCH SAY?
Current evidence supports individualised, patient-centred care for musculoskeletal conditions. Rather than applying the same treatment to everyone, clinical guidelines encourage assessment, education and management tailored to the individual.
What to expect on your first visit
At our clinic, we understand that your first visit can be daunting, especially if this is your first time seeing a chiropractor. That's why we want to put your mind at ease and let you know what to expect during your initial consultation.
When you make your appointment, our staff will send you a link to a simple form to fill out at home that will include basic information about your medical history and health status. When you arrive, our staff will warmly welcome you, check you in and ensure you have everything for your consultation.
Once you are settled, your chiropractor will greet you before escorting you to a private consultation room for the appointment. During this consultation, your chiropractor will listen carefully as you describe your symptoms and other relevant details about your health.
After listening to your concerns, your chiropractor will thoroughly assess your musculoskeletal system. This may involve asking you to perform specific movements, checking your range of motion, and feeling for any areas of pain or discomfort.
Based on the information gathered during the assessment, your chiropractor will develop a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. This may include adjustments to your spine or other joints, soft tissue therapy, and/or exercises designed to strengthen and support your muscles.
Throughout the process, your chiropractor will explain everything they are doing and answer any questions you may have. They will also work with you to develop a plan for ongoing care, which may involve multiple appointments over several weeks or months.
We look forward to working with you and helping you move your best.

For GPs
-
Since its opening in 2017, Spine & Sports Centre chiropractors have been providing comprehensive diagnoses and individualised treatments to patients based on the latest scientific evidence. We aim to provide effective and safe care while remaining within our practice scope. A multidisciplinary approach to care is best for our patients, providing them with internal and external referrals as required.
Being evidence-based involves staying current with the latest research, updating our manual skills and learning new techniques. This is at the forefront of our professional values at Spine & Sports Centre.
-
Our chiropractors collaborate with medical doctors and incorporate the patient's medical history on a case-by-case basis to determine the most effective and safe treatment options.
Our clinic offers various modalities to get our patients feeling their best. Manipulations are at the centre of chiropractic care and a great tool in our arsenal. However, the idea that manipulations "put bones back into place" and "realign" the patient is outdated and archaic. The adjustments benefit the patients by increasing the spinal range of motion, which provides an analgesic effect, decreasing pain. This, in conjunction with other modalities, provides optimal results for the patient, reducing symptoms. Manipulations are not a panacea for all cases and are routinely substituted for manual or instrument-assisted mobilisation techniques when required or preferred by the patient.
Furthermore, soft tissue therapies, such as trigger point therapy and dry needling, are combined with rehabilitation exercise prescriptions. We consider patient education a crucial component of care and always conclude our consults with home advice and recommendations.
-
We understand that X-rays are essential in diagnosing and managing some musculoskeletal conditions. However, we also recognise that radiation exposure should be kept to a minimum. Our chiropractors will only order X-rays when they believe it is necessary to diagnose and manage the patient's condition. We always explain, along the way, the rationale for the imaging study.
-
We understand that you want the best for your patients. We value good communication and co-management with other doctors. Should your patient benefit from a referral to our practice, we will make them a priority and keep you informed of their treatment plan and outcomes.
Please use the Priority Referral Form below, so we can contact your patient directly and liaise with you regarding their care.

ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE

A Chiropractic adjustment is a specific, controlled force applied to a spinal joint to restore proper movement. Adjustment techniques can be as firm or gentle as needed, depending on the condition and patient preference.
-
The 'crack' sound heard during some adjustments is called cavitation. During an adjustment, the pressure within a joint changes, releasing gas into the synovial fluid and creating the cracking/popping sound. This cavitation reduces pain and improves movement. Adjustments can be performed with or without audible cavitation, depending on your condition and personal preference.
-
Chiropractors have extensive training in spinal assessment and palpation techniques, which identify areas of dysfunction in the spine and pelvis. These techniques, combined with subjective patient history, determine where adjustments need to be performed.
