What to expect on your first consultation
Initial Consultation
For your first consultation, please allow 40 to 60 minutes.
-
You do not need a referral to visit our practice as a new patient. Most of our patients have been referred to us by family, friends, a GP or allied health professional; however, this is not necessary.
-
Please bring any imagining (x-rays, CT or MRI scans), relevant reports and comfortable clothing.
-
We will discuss your medical history, perform a thorough physical, neurological and orthopaedic examination, make an accurate diagnosis of the source of your pain and any underlying factors.
If we can help − we will.
If we think someone else should − we will refer you.
-
In some circumstances, for further testing, medical imaging may be required to achieve a comprehensive understanding of your case. In such circumstances, a referral will be organised on your behalf and relayed back to the practitioner upon completion.
-
Treatment techniques used by our practitioners vary between practitioners and profession but often include; soft-tissue and joint mobilisation/manipulation, dry needling, sports taping, and real-time and therapeutic ultrasound. Manual therapy is complemented with injury-specific digital exercise programs to enhance recovery.
All techniques used will be discussed during the consultation.
-
It depends on the location and type of problem.
As a general guide with spine-related issues, a consultation with our Chiropractors or Physiotherapists is recommended.
Our Physiotherapists are best for the assessment of limb or muscular injuries/rehab.
If your concerns are feet or ankle related, then Podiatry will be an excellent place to start.
-
Yes. All major private health funds offer chiropractic, physiotherapy, podiatry and remedial massage services - usually on their 'extras' table. However, annual limits do apply, and the reimbursed amount will differ. Check with your health fund to find out your exact cover.
-
No. However, our practitioners will refer you to an imaging centre for further investigations if imaging is clinically required.
Consultation Fees
Our private billing clinic accepts Medicare, Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) and Insurance Commission (ICWA) referrals.
If you have a Medicare referral, there is a gap payment since the consultation is fully charged. We will need a completed CDM (Chronic Disease Management) plan from your GP, Medicare card, and a registered savings account card.
We also offer on-the-spot private health fund rebates through our HICAPS terminal. Bring your private health fund card to your appointment, and our reception team will assist you. Please check with your health fund to confirm if you have cover for the following services:
