What is “Pelvic Health” or “Women’s Health” Physio?
A special area of Physiotherapy that focuses on Women's Health throughout a lifespan
Many women are surprised to hear that this special area of physiotherapy even exists and sadly most don’t know what we can do to help.
Pelvic health physiotherapist’s have studied a postgraduate master’s degree to become expert clinicians in managing pelvic conditions. They are able to perform internal and external pelvic exams and use the Real-Time Ultrasound for biofeedback of the pelvic floor muscles.
Lydia takes a sensitive, holistic and evidence-based approach to treatment. Her goal is to help you feel in control of your body so that you can get back to doing the things that matter the most to you.

For your first consultation, please allow 40 to 60 minutes.

You do not need a referral to visit our practice as a new patient. The majority of our patients have been referred to us by family, friends, a GP or allied health professional; however, this is not necessary.

Please bring any imagining (X-ray, Ultrasound, CT or MRI scans) and relevant reports. Please come with a moderately full bladder (provided it is not painful). If your bladder is recently emptied, it is harder to visualise on the Real Time Ultrasound.

Lydia will discuss your medical history and perform a thorough physical examination, to make an accurate diagnosis and identify any contributing factors. Lydia will use the Real-Time Ultrasound machine to assess the pelvic floor muscles (this only needs access to the lower tummy area). Sometimes an internal examination is recommended, but this is discussed thoroughly at the time of your appointment.

Lydia will measure your hips and advise you on the correct garment size. You can try sample products before purchase to ensure it's comfortable for you. Products are recommended by health professionals and have proven helpful in research therefore, most health funds rebate the purchase of a pair of SRC shorts.
